- Cardiac glycoside. Natural metabolite of digitoxin. Starting material for the synthesis of gitoxin derivatives with activity as cardiac glycosides.
- Uncompetitive inhibitor of the Na+/K+ ATPase activity.
- Inhibits growth of selected human cancer cells.
