Description
  • Ansamycin antibiotic.

  • Intermediate of rifampicin.

  • Selective inhibitor of bacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RNAP).

  • Effective against mycobacteria, and are therefore used in research of tuberculosis, leprosy and mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) infections.
