bKlotho expressing cells were serum starved for 16hr and then stimulated with hFGF-21-His (competitor), FGF-21-Fc (Prod. No. AG-40A-0095), mCD137-Fc (Fc control) and FGF-b (positive control) for 10 min, respectively. Antibodies against pFRS2α, pERK1/2 & total ERK1/2 were used for immunoblotting.

Description
FGF-21 (Fibroblast growth factor 21) stimulates glucose uptake in differentiated adipocytes via the induction of glucose transporter SLC2A1/GLUT1 expression (but not SLC2A4/GLUT4 expression). Activity requires the presence of βKlotho.
