Description
Vanillylmandelic Acid (VMA) is a metabolite of the catecholamines epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine (noradrenaline). It is produced as part of the breakdown process of these neurotransmitters and is excreted in the urine. Vanillylmandelic acid has been used as a urinary marker for catecholamine-secreting tumors.
