Description
Nicergoline is an antagonist of α1-adrenergic receptors (α1-ARs). Nicergoline is an ergoline derivative used primarily as a vasodilator to improve cerebral blood flow and treat cognitive disorders associated with aging, dementia, and vascular conditions. It has neuroprotective and anti-platelet aggregation effects. Nicergoline undergoes extensive hepatic metabolism (mainly via CYP enzymes) and is primarily metabolized into two main active metabolites MMDL and MDL.
