Description
Dihydroergotoxine is a mixture of hydrogenated ergot alkaloids derived from ergot fungi (Claviceps purpurea). It is primarily used for its vasodilatory and cognitive-enhancing effects, particularly in the treatment of age-related cognitive decline and vascular disorders. Dihydroergotoxine is a mixture of four hydrogenated ergot alkaloids (dihydroergocornine, dihydroergocristine, dihydroergocryptine ?, and dihydroergocryptine ?). These alkaloids undergo hepatic metabolism, and their metabolic products are primarily hydroxylated and demethylated derivatives. These metabolites are excreted mainly in the urine.
