Description
9α,11β-Prostaglandin F2 is a biologically active stereoisomer of PGF2α, which plays a key role in physiological processes, including inflammation, vasoconstriction, and reproductive functions. It can be formed enzymatically from Prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) through non-enzymatic rearrangement in biological systems. It exhibits vasoconstrictive and pro-inflammatory properties similar to PGF2α, is involved in bronchoconstriction, making it relevant in conditions like asthma and may play a role in uterine contraction, similar to PGF2α, which is important in labor induction and menstrual regulation. Elevated levels of 9α,11β-PGF2 are associated with asthma and allergic reactions, as it is a marker of mast cell activation.
