Description
Endorphin β (β-Endorphin) is an endogenous neuropeptide and opioid receptor agonist that binds to μ-, δ-, and κ-opioid receptors. Beta-endorphin is a powerful natural analgesic. It binds to opioid receptors (specifically the mu-opioid receptors) in the brain and spinal cord, helping to reduce the perception of pain. It has a significant mood-enhancing effect and contributes to feelings of euphoria and well-being. Beta-endorphin is released in response to stress, helping the body to cope with emotional and physical stressors. It helps to regulate the stress response by counteracting the effects of cortisol (the stress hormone). Beta-endorphin also plays a role in modulating the immune system by interacting with immune cells, potentially influencing inflammatory responses and immune function.
