Description
TRRAP is an adaptor protein/cofactor involved in chromatin remodeling and transcriptional regulation. It plays a crucial role in histone acetylation, cell cycle control, and oncogenesis. TRRAP is a scaffold protein that recruits histone acetyltransferases (HATs) like Tip60, GCN5, and PCAF, leading to chromatin relaxation and gene activation. TRRAP is required for the oncogenic activity of MYC, a key regulator of cell proliferation. It also interacts with p53, a tumor suppressor, linking it to DNA damage response. TRRAP is essential for cell cycle progression and is involved in the DNA damage repair process. TRRAP is upregulated in multiple cancers promoting tumor growth and survival.
