Description
TAF10 is a transcription cofactor and a component of the Transcription Factor IID (TFIID) complex, which is essential for RNA polymerase II-dependent transcription initiation. TAF10 is a core component of TFIID, a multi-protein complex that recognizes promoter DNA and recruits RNA polymerase II to initiate transcription. TAF10 is also a part of the SAGA (Spt-Ada-Gcn5 Acetyltransferase) complex, which regulates gene expression through histone acetylation. TAF10 is essential for embryonic development and plays a role in cell fate decisions. TAF10 mutations or dysregulation can impact gene expression in cancers and developmental disorders.
