Description
TAF11 is a core component of the TFIID complex, a critical regulator of RNA polymerase II-dependent transcription initiation. It functions as a transcription cofactor in the assembly and stabilization of the TFIID complex. TAF11 is a TATA-binding protein-associated factor (TAF) within TFIID, which is essential for recognizing core promoter elements and recruiting RNA polymerase II. TAF11 is important for cell differentiation and embryonic development, as transcription regulation is key in tissue-specific gene expression. Since TAF11 regulates transcription, its dysfunction may contribute to cancer and other diseases associated with altered gene expression.
