Description
TAF12 is a transcription cofactor and a core subunit of the TFIID complex, which is essential for RNA polymerase II-dependent transcription initiation. It plays a critical role in gene expression regulation and chromatin remodeling. TAF12 interacts with TAF4, TAF5, and TAF6, helping to assemble and stabilize the TFIID complex. TAF12 is also found in the SAGA (Spt-Ada-Gcn5 Acetyltransferase) complex, which regulates gene expression through histone acetylation. TAF12 dysfunction can lead to abnormal gene expression and is linked to tumorigenesis.
