Description
TFIIH is a multi-subunit protein complex involved in transcription and DNA repair. TFIIH p62 acts as a scaffold protein, helping to organize and stabilize the TFIIH complex. It plays a role in RNA polymerase II transcription initiation by mediating interactions with other transcription factors. TFIIH p62 is essential for nucleotide excision repair (NER) by facilitating the recruitment and proper assembly of TFIIH at sites of DNA damage and it interacts with XPB (ERCC3) and XPD (ERCC2), helicases necessary for DNA unwinding in both transcription and repair.
