Scientific Background Information
Product Description
Bromophenol blue is a widely used pH indicator dye and tracking dye for biochemical and analytical applications. It exhibits a distinct color change over its transition range and is commonly employed in acid-base titrations, with a transition range of pH 3 (yellow) to 4.6 (purple), electrophoresis sample loading buffers, and laboratory staining protocols. Bromphenol Blue is used as a tracking dye in DNA, RNA (agarose), and protein (polyacrylamide) gel electrophoresis. It has been used in the preparation of protein samples for western blotting analysis. Bromophenol blue migrates at approximately the same rate as 300-500bp DNA in agarose gel and at the buffer front in protein polyacrylamide gels. It has also been known for its use as a vital stain to probe the blood-brain barrier. Spectral Data: λmax=610 nm. Bromophenol blue is an essential reagent for research laboratories, offering reliable performance in molecular biology, biochemistry, and analytical chemistry.
