Scientific Background Information
Product Description
5-Bromo-6-chloro-3-indolyl-β-D-glucopyranoside is a chromogenic substrate for β-glucosidase that produces an insoluble blue-colored precipitate upon enzymatic hydrolysis. It is widely used for the detection and localization of β-glucosidase activity in microbiological, molecular biology and histochemical applications. This substrate provides high sensitivity and clear visual results, making it valuable for colony screening, enzyme assays, and studies of gene expression and glycosidase activity.
