Non-selective cholinergic agonist that is resistant to the action of cholinesterases; inhibits apoptotic death of cultured neurons, and may induce apoptosis in thymocytes. Carbamoylcholine is an agonist of both nicotinic (nAChR) and muscarinic (mAChR) receptors.
