Droperidol is a butyrophenone that acts as an antagonist at dopamine receptors D2 and D4. It less potently inhibits the human voltage-gated potassium channel, 5-HT, α-adrenergic and histamine receptors. Droperidol has been shown to provide relief from acute migraines and prevent nausea and vomiting in clinical trials and has anti-psychotic activity.
