Scientific Background Information
Product Description
2,4-Dimethoxybenzaldehyde is used as a chromogenic reagent in the DMBA assay for the colorimetric determination and quantification of phlorotannins. The aldehyde reacts with phlorotannins under acidic conditions to produce a colored product, which can be measured spectrophotometrically (typically around 510-520 nm depending on assay conditions).
