Product Description
Eosin Y Disodium Salt is a xanthene dye widely used as a biological stain, fluorescent tracer and analytical reagent. It exhibits bright yellow-green fluorescence and strong visible light absorption, making it suitable for fluorescence microscopy, histology and spectrophotometric assays. Eosin Y Disodium Salt is a key component of the hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining method and is also employed as a photosensitizer, pH indicator and probe in photochemical, biochemical and materials science applications. Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining procedures in cytology are useful to demonstrate the general histological architecture of a tissue to specifically stain the cytoplasmic components of cells. It serves a critical function in fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry by providing high-intensity fluorescence under specific wavelengths. The mechanism involves the intercalation of the dye into cellular components, where it absorbs and then emits light, allowing for the detailed visualization of cell morphology and structure under a microscope. Furthermore, Eosin Y sodium salt has been employed in photodynamic research where its ability to generate singlet oxygen upon light excitation is studied.Spectral data: λmax= ~517-520 nm (aqueous solution; solvent and pH dependent), λex= 515-525 nm; λem= 540-550 nm.
