Major capsaicinoid. TRPV1 and hTRPA1 agonist. Shown to activate capsaicin receptor, also called transient receptor potential vanilloid subfamily member 1 (TRPV1), but without inducing a nociceptive response. Anti-inflammatory and anticancer compound.
