5-(Octadecanoylamino)fluorescein is a lipophilic/amphiphilic fluorescent probe useful in monitoring membrane lipid behaviour and fluorescence resonance energy transfer applications in life cells. It binds at amphiphitic interfaces and may be used as probe for studies of interfacial micropolarity, micro fluidity and local pH. The label makes the cell membrane bright green. Spectral data: λex 497 nm; λem 520±10 nm in ethanol.
