Description
1-Naphthyl phosphate is a chromogenic substrate widely used in biochemical and enzymatic assays, particularly for detecting and quantifying phosphatase activity. Upon enzymatic hydrolysis by alkaline phosphatases, it releases 1-naphthol, which can be coupled with diazonium salts to form brightly colored azo dyes, enabling sensitive visualization and measurement of enzyme kinetics. This compound is routinely applied in immunohistochemistry, ELISA, and histochemical staining procedures to detect enzyme-labeled antibodies or antigens.
