  • Ansamycin antibiotic.
  • Selective inhibitor of bacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RNAP).
  • Effective against mycobacteria and therefore used in research of tuberculosis, leprosy and Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) infections.
